As we continue with our series of Interviews, I bring to you Abi Balogun. He is someone I call “9ja guru”. This is simply because most of his online business have a touch of “9ja”. Some of them are 9jabook, 9jabuy amongst others. Join me as we reveal Abi Balogun to you. This is the latest interview about him. I should have published this last Saturday but I was on break…lol
MMON: Please tell us a little about yourself.
Abi: I am Abi John Balogun, a Serial Web Entrepreneur, Former ISP Network Manager/Electronic Banking
MMON: When did you start Making Money Online and how did you make your first money online?
Abi: It was in 2005. I made my firs income online from Online Advertising
MMON:When starting your membership site, did you ever expect it to grow to where it is today?
Abi: Yes I did .
MMON: You’ve been in the internet space for a long time, how much of an impact have you made?
Abi: Cant really say but I guess a Google search might get that out. The work I do on the internet is kind of a foundation. I am more of a web consultant working on my hobby – Virtual Services.
MMON: How have you incorporated social media into your membership site etc?
Abi: Via a couple of sites and innovative usage of common internet tools .It is more or less an art rather than science.
MMON: In your opinion, what is the single best way to monetize a blog/website/membership site/forum etc?
Abi: Focus on the things that are legitimate; things that you would make money from legitimately rather than the great online marketing scams with large promises but empty results.
MMON: What would you recommend for a new blogger, that wants to create their own brand/presence on the internet?
Abi: Start small. Get a mentor site. Focus on the sites strategies and devise ways on how to beat it.
MMON: Any recommended resources for people looking to bring their online business to the next level?
Abi: Get into the Crowd. Join as many newsletters/top blogs as possible . Love Google. Twitter without season. Use Facebook. Trust YouTube and most of all let Yahoo remind you that you can become obsolete but functional.
MMON: Wow, Nice array of resources.
MMON: Do you have any big announcements or upcoming projects you’d like to tell us about?
Abi: We are looking at ways of monetising a couple of sites that have relied on traditional methods. We are also looking to bring innovative forays into functional mobile sites or VAS for todays GSM Networks.
Finally word from Abi John Balogun: View the internet as your hobby job. If it is not fun, dont bother get a day job!
Nice. In essence, if you don’t find the internet appealing to your business, you can face your day job while we dictate how your job will look like from the internet.
