OnlineNaira for Small Businesses in Nigeria

The OnlineNaira has been designed among other things, to help small businesses to collect money from their website or blog. It used to be that when Nigerians buy goods or services from a website owned in Nigeria, the website usually provides to them a set of bank details.

Payment into the provided bank details must be done first in order for the goods or services to be released. This did not only slow down online business transaction, but also stifled the opportunities available to the small business. The result is that small businesses in Nigeria have been discouraged and it is only the bold and IT literate that has gone ahead to create an online business.

Today, it is different as OnlineNaira has come to create a level plain field where small businesses in Nigeria are also able to collect money without giving out their bank account details. By using the OnlineNaira, they will not only collect money electronically, but that same money will be made available in their bank accounts in Nigeria. Our aim is simple; to greatly improve cash flow for the small business and help Nigerians to keep creating and growing their small businesses.

With the arrival of OnlineNaira, we are also looking at encouraging new Entrepreneurs in Nigeria. We want every Nigerian to know that collecting money online for products and services offered online or offline is no longer the preserve of the rich and big businesses. We want people to start an online business knowing full well that collecting money online can now be down without any hassle and that the money collected can be made available in their bank accounts immediately.

I have heard from thousands of people who have shelved their online business ambition just because they could not come up with a viable way to collect their money online and at the point of purchase. While the importance of cash flow in the life of a small business cannot be over-emphasised, OnlineNaira must be seen as a revolution in Nigeria. Reliable records already show that 80% of Nigeria’s GDP is derived from small businesses; this is yet another reason every small business in Nigeria must now embrace the OnlineNaira project as it has the capacity to greatly increase the ability of small businesses to handle more transactions at any point in time.

However, below are 3 ways to use the OnlineNaira:

1. Shopping Cart Integration

2. OnlineNaira Buttons

3. OnlineNaira USERNAME

Shopping Cart Integration

By far the best way to use the OnlineNaira is to have it integrated into your shopping cart and that is if your website already uses a shopping cart. This means that people buying from you can buy all they want from your website and add them to your shopping cart. At submission, the OnlineNaira takes over and helps to process payment for the total amount in the Shopping Cart. Once processed, the amount paid by the buyer is immediately added to your account balance in OnlineNaira. In addition, OnlineNaira sends you an IPN (Internet Payment Notification) with details of the purchase. See an example of how OnlineNaira is integrated into COMDOCS’s shopping cart.

OnlineNaira Buttons

The OnlineNaira buttons are a simple and easy way to collect money online. They are particularly better when you have fixed prices for products and fixed fees for services. The button can be generated in your accounts page and placed on your website next to the product or service to be purchased. See an example of the OnlineNaira button in at ClickAds, Nigeria.

OnlineNaira USERNAME

Using your OnlineNaira username is probably the easiest way to collect money from your website or from other people. All you need to do is give your username to others and they can pay money into it at anytime. You can also send an email to clients informing them to make payments into your OnlineNaira account by making your OnlineNaira username known to them.

Using OnlineNaira with PayPal

Each time an online retailer asks for your PayPal email address, give them info@onlinenaira.com. However, you must be sure that you have already opened an account at OnlineNaira and have it CERTIFIED/VERIFIED before using this facility as any monies sent or received will be from/to your CERTIFIED/VERIFIED OnlineNaira account.

Making purchases

When making purchases on websites that do not already accept OnlineNaira, look for the PayPal sign or logo and provide them with the email address we have given to you above. In order to make a payment to them, all you now need to do is make sure you have more than enough money in your OnlineNaira account. Login into your OnlineNaira accounts page and click on “SEND MONEY”. Follow the instructions on the page and within minutes, the money will be sent for you.

Receiving money

If you are receiving money and the internet provider or person insists you must provide a paypal address, please use the email address we have provided above. Just like it is when receiving money, the sender must be a verified paypal member and you must be a CERTIFIED OnlineNaira member, otherwise the payment will be returned. All monies received will be made available in your OnlineNaira account, but you must be sure to tell them to use your username or the email address in your OnlineNaira account as reference.

The OnlineNaira is a SEARCH NIGERIA project and is part of our dream for a bigger, better and more prosperous Nigeria.
